The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Ale Garza finally finished my Dark Phoenix Commission...

Well, it's been a rough couple of years even getting him to acknowledge that he owed me this piece. If you're not up to date, you can read my review about this experience in the Artist Rating Thread

Of course, he still hasn't mailed it to me, and it's been more than a month since he finished it. But more so, I don't know if I was expecting something impossibly great after waiting all this time. Originally, he just kinda made a quick sketch that was below the standards of his convention sketches. So I emailed him and asked him to add in flames and a little color to the background (he was posting progress shots on his Facebook account of what she was looking like). Of course he got pissed, but he did it, and here it is. I don't know, the legs look off to me, and imagine this without the flames and yellow highlights on her body - it was just pretty poor and I had to kinda argue with him about adding in more to it.

What do you guys think? I know I won't ever do business with him again, but is this the eyesore that I think it is for a two year old commission at $200?

I love garza's work, and the subject is a perfect choice, but for the 2 years of hell and $200, it's a disappointment.

Do what I am doing and donate it to a charity auction. You will never look at it and enjoy it And if you sell it for half, you'd just be ticked

Not a bad looking piece but not worth two years + the headaches. Ale has a market - you can donate it or keep for a trade.

It does look like the standard that he usually charges $200 for at a convention. I also like Ale's work, but can understand that it would certainly be hard to look at and enjoy it after what you've been through to get it (when you get it!).

Its always tough to enjoy a piece after a delay or other issue. I'm dealing with more than a few myself. I do like that piece and think that as far as proportions, that's usually dependent on the artist's style.

Boo to this treatment of you!

I was going to try to hit Ale up at a con bc I enjoy his work, but this is a turn off.

Hope you figure out what to do with her. She does look MUCH better with YOUR suggestions, can't imagine what plain piece it looked like before
