So i assumed that he was referring to Silver Surfer Maquette which is also a D.B. sculpt

I bet that you may also like that Hulk Transformation by XM, one of the most plasticky, most toy-ish Hulk looking sculpts ever.
Newcomers are impressed by such pieces. A seasoned collector and more precisely a collector with an "experienced" eye would never say that Silver Surfer maquette is dmite. It is a subpar sculpt and even custom Silver Surfer (and i HATE customs) are better than this.

Yeah he means the Surfer Maquette. The Surfer maquette is not so loved. Silver Surfer's surfboard is as much a part of his character as his own body so halving it is a strange aesthetic and yes I understand it is supposed to be as if warping through space/time. That piece is very inspired by Surfer's appearance in the FF movie. The whole feeling is a mindless robot.
Very surprised to hear Forps's view on the Hulk Gladiator maquette. There are some tremendous Gladiator Hulk statues and I consider it one of them. Matches with Brimstone Thor very well.
I have Thor but not the Glad Hulk maquette so I have not seen it in person but I have poured over reviews. I do have the XM Gladiator Hulk and it too is outstanding but I do still want to get Sideshow's.
XM Hulk Transformation is maybe MAYBE XM's greatest piece. I do not own it, nor have I seen it in person but some vids make it look as though MAYBE production does not match the advertised proto. As a concept though there's not a lot of collectors that will agree with it being a poor statue.
Both of Sideshow's Banes squat ALL over any other Banes.

Got it. Frankly I dont follow pieces based on the artist. It does stick out for artists that I like or those that repeatedly miss.
I am used to Sideshow being referred to as SS. I liked the Surfer piece on reveal, but it was too large to ship to my location at the time. Now that I have seen it more, I dont like it near as much, not just the board, but the Surfer is very stiff and looks like an Oscar. So even though I could get it now, I am no longer tempted. I bought the DST Premier Surfer which is superior in every way except for scale. I wouldnt call SS SS a total miss, but I sure wouldnt call it dynamite either.

You are brutal, Tbolt. Forps is thought to be "brutal", not you. But maybe Tbolt is indeed Forps, lol.
You teared that Silver Surfer maquette apart and at the same time you were polite. Mission accomplished, lol. Love you, Tbolt.

Yeah like an Oscar. I do not see anything wrong with the Surfer sculpt.
I just do not like the art direction of the entire piece.
Now Forps likes to focus on sculpts and sculpting but it is Sideshow's art direction that has really turned them around for me as of the last 4 years. Could be due to changing Art Directors.
Bel may have simply been handed Surfer concept sketches to sculpt from.
I do not believe any other sculptor could have made a piece I would appreciate following the same art direction.
Sideshow's art direction has been sensational and that is the true reason for their appeal to the artsy eye.

Also great art direction involves taking risks. Somethings will not be as well received as you hoped. The misses are just as important as the hits.
When companies play it safe you get entire lines of boring mannequins. As nice as the sculpts are that is how I see Prime 1's lauded Hush Batman and Superman, as mannequins

Well, art direction maybe a factor but it is also talent combined with ability.
Harbottle needs NO art direction to GOAT. Harbottle can sculpt anything and he can ace it. The guy simply has it.
Maria Panfilova GOATed from her first pieces. Her sculpts have something divine, refined.
Phillips the same. Phillips is going to GOAT no-matter-what. His sculpts SCREAM talent.
Its talent. And noone can fool Forps regarding art talent. I can "smell" talent drinking a coffee in Mars and checking a guy painting in Earth.
But let's move on. You and Tbolt teared that Silver Surfer maquette apart, Forps was the "polite" dude this time.

Yeah I meant the silver surfer sideshow Maquette. My bad on the confusion.
Point is, you can dislike the art direction of that piece, but there is nothing wrong with the anatomy of that statue.

Does anyone know the difference between Maquette and Marquette?
I know I do.
