What if a Zombie Apocalypse actually happened?

If, suddenly, a meteor crashed in ...say California and it carried some bug on it which started a Romero/Walking Dead style Zombie virus, do you think the world would really go as bad as depicted in movies, books and comics?

If everyone on the planet who died after said meteor crashed, rose from their resting places as feral, ravenous zoms with the ability to transmit their disease with a scratch, bite or body juice, do you think we'd all eventually be toast?

Would we be able to stop it, or would the hiding of our dead loved ones (as I'm sure millions would do)enable the virus to gain hold and numbers.

6 billion people, I don't know...could either be a wildfire or just a fire to snuff out.

Thoughts?

* looks like the old man playing Julius Caesar down at the community theater got bit too.

No way this would happen in America. The average citizen is so heavily armed, and those of us who arent are so desensitized to violence the average teenage boy even would have no problem bashing a zombies brains in with a baseball bat.

Like the flu, the only people zombies would kill are the old and weak with other health problems.

I think there's an excellent chance we'd all be toast if the outbreak became widespread before anyone figured out what was going on.

1 thing i always wondered about a lot of the zombie movies is how exactly do they raise from the grave anyway, a casket and 6 feet of dirt seems like quite the task for somebody to get out of
