I plan on seeing this in IMAX 3D. I'm sure it will be amazing since I've heard Ridley Scott shot most of this movie in 3D.

I think this movie is on a much grander scale than any previously linked with Alien or its predecessors. From reading the disappointed reviews its a mixture of it doesn't answer a lot of questions (I would guess sequel proposed), that for a scientific crew some acted stupidly including dodgy dialogue and finally a lot of people were expecting lots of xenomorphs.
If you go in with an open mind and forgive some of the dialogue and some miscasting you will enjoy this movie for what it is. A stand alone movie with links to Alien.
