I doubt that it will be a member of the JLA. Cyborg would be the only candidate but you run the risk of alienating black readers the don't agree with the change as he is the only coloured member of the team.

I highly doubt Nightwing but perhaps Red Robin? Whomever it is I strongly disagree with upsetting the status quo for a temporary readership bump. My brother is gay and my partner at work is a lesbian and I can tell you right now, having spent a ton of time around the community, that you will not sell a single book long term to a member of the community who wasn't buying comics in the first place

It's a little known fact that the Riddler was originally named the Diddler. There was a lettering mistake made in the pages of his first appearance, and it was too late to go back and make changes. So, I think they'll be finally go back to his original "Diddle me this" gimmick by making him the gay character.

Next month, Marvel will say "Paste-Pot Pete" is gay.

My guess is that both dc and marvel are using this whole same-sex political issue that's happening to sell books.

Man, am I glad there are independent comic companies out there that have fresh ideas for stories.

Or Dr Cocktopus...

Seriously, I can't speak for the gay community at all...but whilst my gay friends would say that being gay is a large part of their identity, I know it's not the be all and end all of who they are, it's not the defining core of their character.

I don't see my heterosexuality as the defining attribute, I don't walk down the street with my 'I'm straight' placard out.

Marvel handled Wiccan and Hulking's relationship with dignity and poise, so much so that I didn't even pick up on it at first, because it was such a small part of the reason I liked them as characters.

Another stupid idea from DC in a long line of stupid ideas the last few years. Regardless of who it is.
