My guess is they were thinking about the original movie poster



But it works differently there since he’s not the main focus of the image and is supposed to be the image of the villain looming over the heroes. It’s a common visual theme we’ve seen plenty of times on movie posters and other art from Darth Vader to Ursula to Magneto.

Less common is looming over one’s self. Visually it’s kinda… redundant? Not sure if that’s the right word for what I mean.

In the first image, he looks dark and menacing.
In the second, he looks . . .surprised(?)
