My point exactly. Not saying it couldn't be done with smart writers and a committed cast and crew, but I don't see any studio properly backing such a project.

I honestly echo the sentiments of some of the other posters who cite big budget films for Antman and even concepts like guardians of the galaxy as an indicator that nothing is off the table. Done well I think most of those characters, save Batwing, could be marketed in ensemble works at the very least.

I agree that such characters could be incorporated into an ensemble cast. However, I don't feel that any of the examples listed (again, except for John) could realistically (from a Hollywood standpoint) replace any other more established character that happens to be white.

I concur. Not that it would ever happen but a black or Arabic Hawkman, if heavily rooted in the Egyptian version of the mythology would also be amazing.
