It is 110% alright to have a discussion if you dislike the casting of JS because the actor does not reflect the classic version of the character. Vallos' post is a perfect example of what is acceptable. What I want to avoid was some of the sweeping generalizations that plagued this thread before.

FTR the rules go both ways bro. In reading some of the posts elsewhere from folks happy with the casting I won't stand for people rubbing the casting in others faces or championing political agendas. We can have a great debate about the pros and cons of this move without deteriorating into low brow barbs bro.
I thought the thread was fine until the political nonsense was injected for no reason.

I am fine with the casting just don't call it the Fantastic Four, call it something else not related to the comic then if you are not going to follow it. I had no problems with S Jackson since there was already an established character in the Ultimate universe but this is just completely going against 50 years of comic history.

I absolutely abhor juvenile ranting, fanboy threats (who gives a crap if you're not going to spend your $11), and thinly veiled and snarky racist remarks and GIFs. Despite the outcries of doom, somehow the casting of Heimdall and Nick Fury didn't seem to hurt Thor or Avengers. That said I think Jordan is a good actor with a very bright future ahead of him, but I just don't see him as Johnny Storm because obviously he's not a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white teenager. Personally I think this is a huge casting fail for the franchise which IMO should have been trying to get in the 14- to 17-year-old girls by casting some hot blonde-haired, blue-eyed teen heart throb type (which also would have drawn a share of venom from fans no doubt, but not the overtones). I'm not certain what that casting will bring to the table and don't know how they will shoehorn it in. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with a casting choice if you are a fan of the material -- look at the outcry mommy porn readers had against Charlie Hunnam for Shades of Gray, or Ben Affleck for Batman. I don't visualize the character as black, Asian, redhead, female, or 5'2" no matter. But I have not seen the script, and I would venture to guess that no one else here has either. So despite what you or I think at the end of the day FOX has the license, they are the ones spending the money and taking the risk. If the movie bombs and they lose a boatload naysaying fans can say "I told you so". If it's a hit and FOX looks like geniuses, fanboys can sit on their couch in a bathrobe and throw a bowl of ice cream at the TV. IMO FOX has done a terrible, terrible job with the X-Men and FF licenses and they can't revert back soon enough. But it's not up to me so I'll see what happens. I've got a life outside of all this.

You are right on pretty much everything you said. I think what is important to note is that Heimdall was not a key role in the movie. He had some good scenes but he is not a key person in the comic books either so the casting should not have been a big issue. For Nick Fury, the Ultimates was an already established comic book that had a character who looked exactly like Nick Fury so there was some actual comic history, albeit short, that you could reference back to. This casting is just crazy.

I.M.I. call the movie any thing but fantastic four. I would rather view ,The Fantastic Four completed in 1994 by B movie producer Roger Corman.
Lets face it this is the history,Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards), a scientific genius, can stretch, twist and re-shape his body to inhuman proportions. Mr. Fantastic serves as the father figure of the group, and is "appropriately pragmatic, authoritative, and dull".[42]:19 Richards blames himself for the failed space mission, particularly because of how the event transformed pilot Ben Grimm.[42]:205
Invisible Girl/Invisible Woman (Susan Storm), Reed Richards' girlfriend (and eventual wife) has the ability to bend and manipulate light to render herself and others invisible. She later develops the ability to generate force fields, which she uses for a variety of defensive and offensive effects.
The Human Torch (Johnny Storm), Sue Storm's younger brother, possesses the ability to control fire, allowing him to project fire from his body, as well as the power to fly. This character was loosely based on a Human Torch character published by Marvel's predecessor Timely Comics in the 1940s, an android that could ignite itself. Lee said that when he conceptualized the character, "I thought it was a shame that we didn't have The Human Torch anymore, and this was a good chance to bring him back".[2]:85 Unlike the teen sidekicks that preceded him, the Human Torch in the early stories was "a typical adolescent — brash, rebellious, and affectionately obnoxious."[42]:204 Johnny Storm was killed in the 2011 storyline "Three",[65] before being brought back and rejoining the reformed Fantastic Four.[71]
The Thing (Ben Grimm), Reed Richards' college roommate and best friend, has been transformed into a monstrous, craggy humanoid with orange, rock-like skin and super-strength. The Thing is often filled with anger, self-loathing and self-pity over his new existence. He serves as "an uncle figure, a long-term friend of the family with a gruff Brooklyn manner, short temper
Johhny and Sue brother and sister from an different planet. I want this to bomb big time .
.

Much too drastic a change on a classic character imo. My personal enjoyment for Fox related Marvel movies is very limited as is and will likely continue. These liberties Hollywood screen writers & casters really need to stop. YOU CANNOT IMPROVE DECADES OF HISTORY AND CHARACTERIZATION just so it can fit your script and budget. Let's start talking with our wallets people....
