Help with Storing and Repackaging Statues

I need some help & opinions on storing statues in their boxes and repackaging them.

On some Sideshow boxes they have the this end up image. So, I've always stored those statues like that.

However, others don't have the this end up image even though they are delivered and I would assume stored in the warehouse vertically. Yet some of those statues would seem to be safer stored flat. Because there would be zero chance of the statue or base lifting or moving around in the Styrofoam.

I would like to know what you guys are doing with your not displayed statues in this regard. I'm wondering about it because I've been reading stuff about media storage and how DVDs, Laserdiscs, and VHS tapes are supposed to be stored vertically.
