Where do they get these scans of the original artwork? From Marvel archives or something? Are these really good and clean scans or touched up a bit to look clean? These artists, some of whom are deceased, didn't keep all of their artwork, did they?

Simonson's and Mazzuchelli's were from their own archives. Romita Sr one was from a collector's personal collection. Don't know about the Gill Kane Spidey. These are not touched up but are high rez color scans of the original art.

The only one I have is Dave Stevens' Rocketeer Artist Edition. It's almost like having the original artwork. I say almost because nothing will beat the original. But the Artist Edition is like 99%. I think Stevens book only has two copies of the original artwork. All the other pages are scanned from the original pages.
Definitely getting this Spider-Man Artist Edition. I passed on the Romita one. Even though I love his artwork it's about the issues to me. They found the artwork to some great Spider-Man issues for this Gil Kane edition. Plus, I think Romita actually worked on some of these issues too. This is the Spider-Man Artist Edition for me unless they can put together some of those older issues with the Green Goblin.
